IkuoYakushimaru Painter. Born in Fukushima in 1953.He started to draw paintings in his childhood, encountered psychedelic culture and first Japanese hippie movement in junior high school. He didn't choose the way of academism. He creates his art in counter-culture. Just one look of his artworks ,it seems like they're work of CG or collage, though it's all paintings by hand. He dedicates 「Psychedelic Dragon」 to Tenkawa Shrine in Nara , and other works to temples. His works appear in fliers like "Rainbow 2005" which is Japanese legendary rave party. From the wish to world peace, he organizes " the rainbow bird band " with a concept of build rainbow bridges all over the world .The band makes tours of various parties all over Japan with the message and his artworks.
Artworks of Ikuo Yakushimaru are all hand-paitings. Only by his hand skill and passion for art can make it possible to express many dimensions on canvas. Some of his artworks are full of details which are recognizable only through a magnifying glass. The endless aggregate of dots and lines created by exorbitant concentration somehow bends the border of reality and softly , another real world emerges. It celebrates the possibilities of human beings.
